Steps

  1. With a grown-up: boiling water

Fill a big pot with water, add a spoon of salt and bring it to the boil.

  2. With a grown-up: sharp knife

Peel the garlic and slice it thinly.

  3. With a grown-up: hot pan

Warm the oil in a pan over low heat and cook the garlic for 1 minute, without letting it brown.

  4. With a grown-up: hot pan

Add the tomatoes, sugar and salt and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring now and then.

  5. With a grown-up: boiling water

Meanwhile cook the gluten-free pasta in the boiling water for the time on the packet, then drain it in a colander in the sink.

  6. Tip the pasta into the sauce, tear in the basil and stir.

Tear the basil and stir it in.

Tips

Swaps: gluten-free pasta instead of regular pasta. Draining boiling pasta is a grown-up job: the steam burns. Kids can tear the basil and stir the sauce once the pan is off the heat.

We mark a recipe gluten-free only if every ingredient is, or is marked “check the label”. If someone has coeliac disease, always check labels and keep surfaces and tools clean.
